Barton shows how the Bible is indeed an important source of religious insight for Jews and Christians alike, yet argues that it must be read in its historical context—from its beginnings in myth and folklore to its many interpretations throughout the centuries. It is a book full of narratives, laws, proverbs, prophecies, poems, and letters, each with their own character and origin stories. Barton explains how and by whom these disparate pieces were written, how they were canonized (and which ones weren't), and how they were assembled, disseminated, and interpreted around the world—and, importantly, to what effect. Ultimately, A History of the Bible argues that a thorough understanding of the history and context of its writing encourages religious communities to move away from the Bible's literal wording—which is impossible to determine—and focus instead on the broader meanings of scripture.

Le Tarot est, à la base, un jeu de société. Apparu dans l'Italie du XVe siècle, il devient la coqueluche de toute l'Europe et sa production se cristallise en France sous une forme particulière que l'on appellera " Tarot de Marseille ". Vers la fin du XVIIIe siècle, alors que la vogue du jeu décline, le Tarot est réinventé (ou redécouvert) par divers mouvements occultistes qui vont en faire un instrument de méditation, voire de divination, en lui attribuant des significations plus ou moins fantaisistes.
Aujourd'hui le mystère demeure : D'où vient le Tarot ? Est-il ou non porteur d'un influx spirituel décisif ? Comment se fait-il que la lecture des cartes puisse nous orienter avec une telle justesse ? Dans cet ouvrage, Marianne Costa revisite les bases historiques, culturelles et iconographiques du Tarot de Marseille pour proposer une structure d'interprétation, en cohérence profonde avec l'histoire du jeu, qui prend en compte la totalité de ses cartes : arcanes "mineurs" et "majeurs" , autrement dit cartes numérales, figures et atouts.
Dans la lignée de La Voie du Tarot, (co-écrit avec Alejandro Jodorowsky en 2004), elle développe une vision à la fois humaniste et poétique du Tarot, basée sur ses allégories et sa numérologie propre : un parcours chevaleresque qui nous mène de l'amour humain à l'amour absolu. Cette approche intégrale met en jeu tous les aspects de l'être humain, qu'ils soient pratiques, affectifs ou spirituels. Si l'on part du principe qu'il n'est pas question de prédire l'avenir, et que la lecture du Tarot n'est pas non plus un exercice de psychologie sauvage, il devient possible de l'envisager comme une source d'inspiration et comme un chemin de réunification avec la sagesse intrinsèque qui vit en nous.
Ce coffret contient : La reproduction des 78 lames du tarot de Madenié (1709), conservées au Landesmuseum de Zurich (Suisse) ; un livre de 448 pages, avec des illustrations couleur.
